Feeling accomplished

I finally completed my design for an ezine that I'm participating in. I made the face and tree through block printing (my new favorite thing to do) and the rest was Illustrator and Photoshop work. I still have to print and deliver my copies for all the zines and I'm posting this way ahead of time but I don't think anyone from that forum even knows that I have a blog!

On the homefront: no new news. It's too HOT to even enjoy a game of t-ball. Last night we went to our little guy's last game of the season and it was unbearable. The game was at 7:30pm and it was still extremely humid and hot. Crazy! Can't wait for the summer to be over!

Who turned off the lights?

My 5yr old was running around the house yelling "Who turned off the lights, who turned off the lights?" after he started putting on a t-shirt this morning. He'd peek out from under his shirt every now and then to make sure he knew where he was going and continue the running around. I just had to make a quick sketch of it. It was also really funny that my 2yr old daughter was chasing him with a look on her face like "what the heck is he doing?". I guess you just had to be there. Somehow I want this on a card - but for what ocassion? Ummm...

This is the sort of small daily story that inspires many of my cards. I can't count the amount of times I've used something that my kids have done or said as a springboard for something new. If you're around kids you understand what I mean. You never know what they'll come up with next.

Sneak peek

I've been carving different images for my new block cards but hadn't really given them a test run. The images look so nice on the block that I was afraid I'd be disappointed when I printed them. I'm excited because this first one turned out nicer than I imagined. It's my first block project ever so this is really fun for me. I printed the flower in this darkish blue, in black and in burgundy red. They will be available at A Little Hut (probably as sets) once I get that up and running!

Back from a nice break

We just got back last night from our little break from reality. We went out of town for a few days. We avoided the crazy holiday traffic by leaving on Wednesday night and coming back late last night. The kids had fun and we got a deserved break. The kids loved seeing dolphins, killer whales and playing little carnival type games and winning prizes. It was their first time for all of this.

Today we're 'recovering' from the trip. Does this happen to everyone? You get back from a vacation and you need another mini-vacation to get back in the saddle again but at the same time you have to hit the ground running (ie. do all the laundry!) or you'll be so far behind on everything that you almost regret having the trip to begin with! Ha-ha!

I also got to go to an art festival that has given my a much needed inspiration boost and new ideas! I can't wait to get started on the new cards I have planned. Ahh yes...the website! It's coming, it's coming!
